Chambres et table d’hôtes ” La Maline “

Chambres et Table d’Hôtes de Charme «La Maline»

Bernard and Lucie have opened the doors of their recently restored 19th-century Charentais house in the charming village of Trizay, home to an 11th-century abbey, in a setting of lush greenery and the charm of old stone, ideal for rest and tranquillity. They welcome guests who simply want to recharge their batteries or discover the gentle way of life in our region.

In the privacy of the 1st floor, there are 3 bedrooms all with en suite shower rooms and WCs. Decorated with care and refinement, they each have a different atmosphere, but “Romance” and “Harmonie” nod to the romantic atmosphere of yesteryear with their authentic old-fashioned drapes, hand-embroidered by our grandmothers. Everything has been thought of to ensure a warm welcome and a pleasant, relaxing stay.

Back at La Maline, far from the hustle and bustle of city life, in a 2800 m² park enclosed by old stone walls, you can relax, read or bubble under the cool maples or the majestic foliage of the hundred-year-old lime tree.

And in the evening, if you’d like to enjoy a table d’hôte dinner, make sure you book in advance. Bernard and Lucie will be delighted to welcome you to their table and help you discover the local produce and specialities.

Les Jardins du Lac

Les Jardins du Lac

Finding the Jardins du Lac may take a bit of scouting, but you’ll be so rewarded at the end of the Chemin de Fontchaude, when you come across the green setting of this lost paradise…

Overlooking the banks of the Bois Fleuri lake in Trizay, the hotel-restaurant has just been given a makeover, soon to be extended, and the result is well worth the diversions.

Whether you’re seated in the dining room or on the terrace in the shade of a parasol, the panoramic view over the wooded park and lake is worth every aperitif.

The seasonal fruit and vegetables cooked at the Jardins du Lac are selected from the stalls of Pierre FAIYRE, a young organic market gardener from Sainte-Radegonde. This is a garden where wild fruit and aromatic herbs grow among the roses, where blackberries and redcurrants cohabit with marjoram, camomile, mint and Sichuan pepper… And where the head gardener, a bit of a sorcerer, hand-picks the beetles that predate the roses to feed them to his carp.

Watching the cotton-covered tables bloom with love, while the men compose at the cooking piano, is a fine lesson in the art of living.
